Using Special Reports To Build Your Consulting Practice

Kirk WardYou ever had one of those, “why didn’t you tell me” moments? I mean, the type of moment when you’re in a store purchasing something and the salesman forgets to leave out an important detail. Or maybe a friend stays silent as you buy some ugly clothes that for some strange reason look good to you in the store. The only problem is, of course, when you get home, you realize that the clothes don’t look good at all. Then, in an angry moment, you think to yourself, “Why didn’t they tell me”?

I’m sure everyone has had one of those moments, and during each one, I’m also sure that they’ve felt a little betrayed by the people they were talking to – whether they were friends or the salesmen.

As a consultant though, you’ve got to be really careful not to let those moments happen to your clients. They trust you for your advice and your wisdom, and it’s important that you don’t forget and leave out details that could have an impact on their business.

In other words, it’s an absolute imperative that in order to survive and be competitive, you make sure that you provide your clients with what I like to call a “special report”, or reports that are, as I like to say, chock full o’ information.

As an example, if you were an accountant this report could be something special about a new deduction or tax law. In other words, these reports don’t leave room for those “why didn’t you tell me” moments.

Writing special reports helps you to build trust with your clients. They will show a solid, firm level of detail and commitment that is sure to be appreciated. Perhaps though the biggest benefit is that each time you write one of these reports, you will be showing that you can not only handle just the generic stuff, but also the complexities of your profession.

If you’re concerned that you don’t know what to write, or how to put it together, then a subscription to the Consultant Supply Room may be a good option to consider. Aw heck, it IS the answer! We do the writing for you.

The Consultant Supply Room provides you with a reliable source of timely special reports which are personalized to present you as the primary author. Think of it as sort of a source for “ghostwritten articles and reports” that you can rely on to be timely and accurate, relieving you of the stress and the time consuming effort of keeping your reports fresh and timely.

Subscribe today and see how much we can add to your practice!

It’s only $97 a month, and besides the seven articles you get each month that come as part of your client newsletter package, we’ve just added the ability for you to download and print a new “Special Report” each week on some tax topic.

Okay, I haven’t done a tax return since I retired in the late 90’s. That’s why I have a guy analyzing Revenue Ruling and Letter Rulings and putting them in plain language. Do you know how out of date my technical expertise is? Good grief.

But, the important part is that when you download them, they have your name on them as if you researched and wrote it just for your client! Can you imagine the time that will save you, and how cool your clients will think you are?
